PROTOSTAR FLOCKBOARD
This is NOT self adhesive.
Image contrasts suffers when stray light reaches the focal plane. Even the best Matt Black paint reflects about 5% of the light that strikes it,and more when viewed at high angles of incidence.
In 1997 Protostar was the first company to develop a Black,low-profile surface for lining telescope tubes. It absorbs well over 99% of visible light.and is effective at all angles of incidence.Unlike decorative flocking,Protostar does NOT shed fibres onto your optics.
Flockboard(patent pending)has the same optical properties as Protostar self-adhesive flocking,but is manufactured onto low-density plastic sheet. Simply roll it up,and slip it inside your optical tube. It self-conforms to the tube wall,and stays in place without glue or tape.
I find that butt jointing the material is the best method of fitting to the tube.
Flockboard is available in .020" and .030" thickness.
.020" Thickness comes in a 26" Width and weighs .010oz/inch2
.030" Thickness comes in a 21" Width and weighs .016oz/inch2
